Stumbling Blocks,

I believe that my largest stumbling block with eating habits occur on the weekends. During the week I am busy at work and don't have the time to mess around and then I get home at 7pm at the earliest and eat supper. On the weekends however is a different story. I start off on Saturday by going to my Weight Watchers meeting (hello my name is Brad and I LOVE food). Then backhome and then the errands start. And with that all of the free available time to eat unfortunately. Saturday seems to be my biggest problem, Sunday is just as busy but is more structured around church services.

So to get myself around this I have to PLAN!!!! out my Saturday eating schedule and also keep myself aware of what is happening and why I want to just pick and pick at stuff all day long.

So, today is Wednesday that leaves me two days to plan.

Eating Diary for Tuesday January 29, 2008

Well according to Weight Watchers I need to start writing down everthing that I eat. So I figured instead of me doing this on a sheet of paper I would do it on line so that I can have everyone in the world who has internet access able to witness my eating triumphs and failures (which particularly happen on weekends). So here goes for today.

Breakfast:

1 Bannana 2pts
Dunkin Donuts Lg Coffee w/ cream and Sugar 3pts

Lunch:
SmartOnes Lunch - Potatoes, Brocolli with Cheese 4pts

Snack:

4 NutterButter Cookies 6pts

Supper:

Mostaccoli Bake 15pts

Total for the Day 30pts (my allowance is 35)
Goals:

Rachel asked me this weekend if she could run a half marathon at the Sunburst race (http://www.sunburstraces.org/). So to set a goal myself I decided that I will train with her and run the race with her. So as of today that gives me just under 18 weeks to prepare my fat butt to run 13.2 miles without being totally blown away by my 12 year old daughter. My trainging program is a couch potatoe to 5k that can be found at http://www.coolrunning.com/ and then we will start the 12 week half marathon program their also. The only catch is that in six weeks I need to be up and running 20 miles/week to begin the half marathon program. So that is not much time to get me up to that level.

By doing this I want to

1. Spend some quality time with Rachel
2. Build up my endurance level and general fitness
3. Encourage my Cathy (wife) and Samantha (youngest daughter) to run the 5k at Sunburst also.

As a long term goal if I do well with this training I may try to do a full marathon in the fall. Quite possibly the Indianapolis marathon on Saturday October 18th (http://www.indianapolismarathon.com/ ).
Progress:

I have now completed four weeks of Weight Watchers and have dropped 15.8 pounds. This was all without any exercise and only regulating my food intake. This really tells me that I need to cut down on my portion size.

Now it is time for me to start moving!!! In other words I need to get out and start exercising. I have started swimming three mornings a week the pool at my church. And this evening I will start running with Rachel my oldest daughter.
